I try to hold back, but it’s in vain
I feel a smile taking my frowns place
And though I try my best to restrain
I feel a new warmth across my face

I’m not one to wish, get caught up in a dream,
Or get my hopes up thinking the best
But the more I look, it seems they are
And they whisper that you’re not like the rest

And though I try to stay firm and centered
I seem to floating a bit off the ground
Over this new realm that I’ve entered
And over this new feeling I’ve found

I walk past a mirror and have to step back
And admire your effect on me
And though I may not want to face the fact,
You’re already making me happy

It scares me now to imagine that this
Could be the start of something new
I’d always thought bliss was ignorance
But I’m starting to think it’s you

  1. Gotta say, I really like this poem.  I’m usually not a big fan of poetry, (my own ignorence talking) but every once in a while I find something that I like.  Probably because I have felt like this before.

  2. Reflections have that effect on me too.

  3. today was a good day.

  4. Thank you, Stickman, for those kind words.  I’m glad that you had a good day today, luthien.

  5. As a partial fan (mostly when it is about me) poetry is cool, but I gotta say that this is awesome.  Did you write it?

  6. Yes, gc, I did.  Thank you, too, for your input.  It’s great to feel appreciated in your own time!  I’ll take that over being tortured and letting my ungrateful grandchildren take the credit any day! 😉

  7. the thoughts truly do swirl.

  8. i know the subject well…
