Slowing Down
I used to be a person consumed with being productive at all times. I kept books in the bathroom, multitasked at work, listened to books on tape while driving, read my mail while cooking, even talked on the phone while in the grocery store. I never stopped. I was always filling my time with business.
One day, exhausted, I lay on the floor. The cool surface below my face calmed me. For the first time I really, truly stopped. I was being seemingly unproductive, but I was reaching a goal … I was recharging. The cat came over and lay on my back. We napped … in the middle of the day … for no good reason. It was delicious and frivolous and completely necessary.
I’ve taken a few more cues from the cat since then. Find a sunny spot near the window, stretch out, nap and feel no remorse afterwards.
Sllllooooow down, otherwise you’ll get white hairs at a younger age! listen to the cat – he seems to know what he is doing 😀
cats are good 🙂
Ok, admit it, the cat had you pinned to the floor! 😉 Good sometimes to just lay on the floor and rest. I do it myself from time to time.
I’m glad to see that you’re learning to relax. The one advantage to sleeping on the floor, you can’t roll off.
Isn’t it the best. At the end of lunch yesterday, I glanced over by our patio door and saw my cat laying in the sun snoozing away. My family was planning on running errands right after lunch, but I turned to them and said, “Banga (that’s our cat’s name) has the right idea about what to do on a Sunday afternoon.” After we cleaned up, I put my daughter down for a nap, crawled into bed and snoozed myself. I would have preferred the nap on the floor in the sunshine, but I’m in the process of moving in right now and the floor is consumed in boxes and bags. There is just enough room for Banga.
So, right on… Keep up the napping!
Cheers! {v} 🙂 {v}
Change Your Life Without Getting Out of Bed : The Ultimate Nap Book
by Sark
I highly suggest this book, and any book by Sark. I’m definitely a “woman in motion” (I feel like I’m wasting time if I’m not doing something) and it takes work to realize that you have nothing to feel guilty about if you take time for yourself. You must take time for yourself for sanity’s sake.
Keep napping with Mr. Kitty. 🙂

It’s always good to take time for yourself. Never get so busyand worn out that you can’t think(doesn’t take much for me. =-P) Find time just to think. Think about nothing, everything, whatever you want as long as it’s what you want to do.

Napping with a cat is the best! I doze off on the couch with mine laying right over my heart–I think she likes the soothing beat. 🙂
This sounds so heavenly! Cats are so smart! Meow! 🙂
