I read the words tremorously
Flipping my curls in my fingers
A sudden start
Almost pulling out a tendril
What powerful ideas are there

Your words like a cold blast
From the freezer
While I search for Ben & Jerry’s
Though the heat of your words
Flushes my cheeks
And makes my ears turn red

The fan gets turned up a notch
The level of the tea in my glass
Lowers rather dramatically
The straw bobs up and down
Waiting for another sip
To cool my parched mouth

Those words seem so pointed
Are they meant for the masses
Meant for someone of
Your imagination
Or meant for … no … it can’t be

Oh that I could do justice
In a return of words to you
I guess this quick rhyme
Will have to make do
Until I can rid my mind
Of your own swirling thoughts
