Art of the Day Vincent van Gogh (1853 – 1890) “In May 1889, after episodes of self-mutilation and hospitalization, Vincent van Gogh chose to enter an asylum in Saint-Rémy, France. There, in the last year before his death, he created almost 130 paintings. Within the first week, he began Irises, working from nature in the asylum’s garden. There are no known drawings for this painting; Van Gogh himself considered it a study.” (info from the J. Paul Getty Museum homepage) “Paintings have a life of their own that derives from the painter’s soul.” — Vincent van Gogh dedicated to mslady, my 175th subber

Annoying Trick of the Day
Inform others that they exist only in your imagination.
Or as I tell my dog, Mo, “You’re a Fig Newton of my imagination, ya know!”
Answer to …
the mystery of the picture

I’ll told ya that I’d tell you the REAL story behind the image that I used here …
The man in the painting, Dr. Haustein, was a real doctor. The shadow represents his mistress. Schad, the artist, added her in as a point of mystery. Just before Schad did this painting, the mistress had committed suicide. Dr. Haustein followed suit soon after. Schad was conveying his idea that the mistress’ deed had haunted Haustein, leading him to his demise. Haustein’s contemplative mood beforehand can be seen in this painting.
Creepy, huh? Most of Schad’s work had a somber and/or psychological undertone to it. That’s why I like it so much – I love art and psychology. I’m such a nerd.
Personal Update
I have felt like crap since getting to S&Ds house for our little house-sitting gig. I think part of it was the bed and part of it was tension, thanks to finals/moving/numerous-pets/money-crunches.
Last night my head hurt so badly that I was reduced to tears. I couldn’t tolerate sound or light. I went from really warm to really cold and back again. It truly sucked. I have had many less severe headaches like this, but most of them have been attributed to the fact that I grind my teeth at night something fierce and it makes my entire head hurt and my jaw pop the nest day. (Anxiety is the cause.)
As a result of all of this, I have been posting a little here and there, but I not felt like doing any research. Therefore, I have been really slack on my “Art of the Day”. My apologies to mslady and all of the fans of that feature. I am working on today’s and will make it really wonderful. Okay?
Thanks for being so patient with me, even if I am a poopyhead.

Gray takes a turn at the wheel-
Howdy, as many of you may know, My name is Gray. I am Swirlies Fiancee and though I do have my own xanga site (I have decided that I don’t post nearly enough to maintain the demands of bieng a xanganite), I felt the need to jump in here and say a few words.
Isn’t Swirlie great? She posts on here and believe me when I tell you all that she appreciates every single comment, and eprop. Well, all except for Juliet-A who seems to have a giant stick shoved in her rectum, but ah hell, she loves MOST of them . I want to thank the Xanga community for being her outlet and for the response you have given her. We live in a very small town, one whose mean IQ is 74, and friends are a rare commodity. Swirl And I have each other, and that is pretty much it. I have Shane, who is a good freind, but Swirl has not been as fortunate.
At any rate, I do want to mention a few things that she may not have told you about herself, for whatever reason.
So there you have it. 10 things you probably did not know about Jennifer. 10 things I love her for, and 10 things you should too.
If anyone wants to email me about this, or have comments that you dont want swirly to see, email me at [email protected]. No, thats not a typo either Until next time, take care-

Annoying Trick of the Day
As often as possible, skip rather than walk.
You can sing, “We’re off to see the Wizard …” I particularly like doing this when out with my mom. I also sing the Chicken Tonight song at the grocery store.
I had to post it …
