Today’s Rant
Junk Email Headers
Does anyone else get the amount of porn in their email that I do? These things have some of the oddest titles, too. Here are few just from today and this weekend. Enjoy!
“Watch me put this up my”
(Honestly, that was the title.) I’d really rather not, especially since I have no idea if it ever came out or not. If it’s a Coke bottle, I really like Coke and don’t want you to ruin a soft drink for me.
“Teens give great head”
Hmmm … I remember being a teenager, and I did not give great head. That took me a while to master. In fact, I’d bet the longer (no pun) that you do it the better you get. If you really want to convince me, change the title to “Forty Year Olds Give Great Head”. I’d believe that. I’m still not visiting your porn site, though.
“Open up”
I didn’t hear the doorbell ring … is someone here? Is there a flaming bag of poop? Again?
“Barely Legal Slumber Party!!!”
I went to a barely legal slumber party once. Instead of trying to get it on with each other we smoked pot though. That’s what was barely legal about it. Hey, my foot hurt, okay? It was for medicinal purposes!
“Attention all sex maniacs”
If I were really an addict, I doubt I’d want to be visually teased as opposed to getting the real thing. I don’t log on to look at chocolate. I walk down to the gas station and buy all of their 3 Musketeers.
I also get things trying to entice me to go look at non-porn sites. Today’s funniest example:
Have you seen the price of gasoline lately?
No, I intentionally turn my head in the opposite direction when passing by the gas station. Especially if I am going there to buy 3 Musketeers. It kills the mood otherwise.
Annoying Trick
Ask the waitress for an extra seat for your “imaginary friend”.

Water Lilies I, 1905

This is perhaps Monet’s best known work of art. He painted a wide variety of subjects, though. Tomorrow I’ll show another example to give you a better idea of his range. But for today, let’s all pretend we are here, in the pond with the water lilies.
Quit splashing, Herbie! Why is the water warm near Ralf? And of course, GudKarma is skinny dipping.
There will be a small series of Monet’s dedicated to our favorite “Lily” of all – azure_mariposa. Our thoughts and best wishes are with you, dear.

Quick Update
My newest subscriber, PhotoPete, almost met his maker in the I95 McDonalds here in Lumberton. I sympathize with him for getting the snot scared out of him. Thank God I am moving from this little hell hole within the next three weeks. (Pete … These people scare the crap out of me, too! )
I had to make an emergency pit-stop at the therapist’s office today. My sleep is being severely disrupted by nightmares and I am having flashbacks during the day. This is, believe it or not, good news! I am finally stable enough mentally to start dealing with some of these things I’ve swept under the rug all these years. I up-ed my visits from one a week to two and I am starting group therapy, as well, for a somewhat related problem. Though things are getting kind of hairy right now, I know that they are getting better in the big picture.
A Word of Thanks
I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you that have read my ramblings and that have offered support. This forum has been wonderful for me. I can vent, rant, share … and I get the best thing of all – feedback. Your words of encouragement have been a great comfort and I am glad that we have been able to share some laughter along the way, too. Even if it is at the Evil Ex’s expense, right?
Awww … loves!
Character Sketch
Sometimes I can look at an inanimate object or a person in a crowd and can conjure up a history to go with the image. Here is one that I had today.
Mrs. Macabe was a romantic that had been hardened by life. She kept momentos of her failed attempts at love around her home, perhaps as reminders to not make those same mistakes again. To most people they seemed innocent decorations, but I knew their hidden secrets.
The framed print of a couple, walking and holding hands over the couch was not just that. It was a card she bought for a lover who ended their relationship on its intended day of transaction. She told me that it was too beautiful to throw away and it reminded her to be sure her feelings would be returned before going out on a limb.
The painting in the hallway she did the day after her sister died. The swirls of color representing the untold apologies never made. She painted it quickly and furiously to capture the pain of having someone die without ever getting to say your good-byes.
The bouquet of dried roses in the dining room were the last things her husband gave here as an “I’m sorry, I’m cheating on you” present. She kept them there for the same reason as the ring on her left hand. Some thought the ring was a gift from her late husband. It was instead a gift intended for his mistress, but Mrs. Macabe intercepted it. She wore before they divorced it to remind him not to think that he could ever get anything over on her. She wore it afterwards to remind herself to always be on guard.
The photo she placed her hand on every time she gave a tour of the house was as she said – of her father. She neglected to tell them that she had never met him and that she didn’t know whether her addendum of “God rest his soul” was at all appropriate or not. She told me that having his face there reminded her that he was the one missing out in this situation and that he was dead to her.

Quote of the Day
That’s the trouble, a sex symbol becomes a thing.
But if I’m going to be a symbol of something,
I’d rather have it sex than some other
things we’ve got symbols of.

This was Leighton’s last work of art. He died less than a year later. Though Leighton did not consider himself a Pre-Raphaelite painter, he is considered by many others to be in this movement.
