More Things I Don’t Understand

(a neverending list)

  • Why people continue to start smoking
  • Why anyone ever thought the moon was made of cheese
  • Why people flip you off if you don’t run a yellow light, even though your doing so would not have benefited them in any way
  • Why other people in my Comp. class won’t answer questions on an article stressing the importance of participation in class discussions

    1. I always wondered about the first one myself.  In high school people start mainly due to peer pressure, but after that whose dumb enough to think that smoking’s a good idea?  Is there some 30 year old people out there that think to themselves,”I need to improve my image, gee, those smokers in the movies always look so glamorous. That’s for me!”

    2. The more questions you ask, the more that seem to come!

    3. or even more odd… the man I dated for two weeks before he told me he was a smoker… if he thought that smoking was something he couldn’t/wouldn’t give up, why cover it up for 2 weeks?

      men are odd creatures.

    4. Why do you suppose David hops from site to site givin 2 props, and never comments? *smile* strange…hell i wish i could quit smokin even for a day, that way I could understand starting again!

    5. I agree wholeheartedly for that last one… but even more so, I don’t understand why people don’t participate in class.  They are being given an amazing gift – LEARNING! – and they don’t choose to use it.  And sometimes people pay $40,000/year for this learning…. never has made sense to me.

    6. I used to participate in class, until I noticed I was the only one answering the questions. Thats when I decided to stop and let others take the floor for a while. Bad thing is, they didn’t take the hint. Now we sit in class, after the teacher asks a question, for about 5 minutes, waiting for someone to speak up and me sitting in my little corner muttering the answer spaced with a few, “Someone please just say something to make the silly man happy!!”

    7. I wonder about the first one a lot.  I mean back a decade or more or so I could see why people weren’t quiting.  The older generation, had grown up not knowing about the dangers (although, they certainly knew it stunk like high hell and made them a walking ash tray).   But now, I just don’t see the mentality at all.   We’ve grown up being told repeatedly about the dangers of smoking, we’ve been shown the pictures of black lungs.. Geez, I can see the mentality of dropping acid before I can see why people smoke.
And number 2…. well um… what can I say? People jump to conclusions all the time.   I mean.. the moon kinda has the same color as some cheeses, sometimes it looks like it has holes like swiss cheese, so thus, it -becomes- cheese. And the flipping off thing… well- deal with it, people are stupid and thus they think that by flipping you off they are somehow helping the world or rather themselves, since the world of most men consists of only themselves.

Hmm….. the fourth one.   Well.. that seems to be a worldwide problem.  People just aren’t motivated.. either that, or they are like me and they didn’t even hear that a question was being asked because they are too busy playing calculator games.

    8. I think my point on the first item was lost … I realize why people continue smoking … it’s HIGHLY addictive.  My question why do new people START smoking, despite all of the information plastered on every billboard, commercial and package of cigarettes?  Stickman ‘got’ what I was saying, though …

    9. Kind of sticks in my mind. Why do people like agro chick keep worring so much about what david does. When it benifits neather of us in anyway. See david may give two e-props hopping from site to site. But he reads the comments as well. Thanks the article was great. But cheap shots continue in the comments unfortunately.. Enjoy your logs. But I believe I said that yesterday too. Thanks David

    10. I often hop from site to site reading and giving eProps w/out comment.  Sometimes I like what was written in a log but ten other people have said the same thing I thought about, so I deposit my props (a sign of goodwill, right?) and move along.  So I can see David’s point here, guys … perhaps we should all lay off his case, he isn’t scrutinizng over our every move.

    11. *gasp!* Im not on anyones case!!! I just found it odd, in my case because I rarely get comments from david, so if i get eprop from him, only leaves me curious as to why!! Sheesh! Me not assume anything else, just found it curious!!!

    12. I apologize then, I misunderstood what you wrote … that is one of the major problems of the net … no inflection and highly interpretive … sorry, agrochick … 🙁

    13. s’ok, everyone is so edgey in xangaland lately, im afraid to type anything…I should stay to my corner me thinks!;-)

    14. I would like to take this opportunity to openly appologize to agrochick as I missread her intent. She is right if we are all so on edge we cannot openly comunicate whats the point. Sometimes I wonder if xanga is run by psycologist doing some kind of a study and we’re the rats. They just watch the cage. David

    15. Where’s my cheese?!?
