How well do you ever really know a person? Can you ever truly claim to know what caused that flicker of light in their eye? It could have been a childhood memory, a bit of a song running through their head or a daydream of someone they’d rather be with instead.
Do you know, or rather do you want to know, about their dreams … the pleasant ones that make them hit the snooze button over and over again and pray for slumber? Or the nightmares that keep them awake late at night, scared that if they dream them that they might just come true?
Think about how intricate your life is … the inside jokes you have, the secret thoughts about subjects, philosophies, books and people … the memories of your childhood friends, your favorite dinner, the best hair cut that you ever had … now think about all of the people that you know. Their lives are just as detailed. The people you see in the grocery store … they have much in common with you, too.
Every mind is like a storehouse of thoughts … swirling around, dancing here for a bit, hiding over there for a while. How well can you ever really know a person? Or yourself …
The Muse
He says that I’m his muse
But is it that really true
Perhaps I showed him how to be
Lavender instead of blue
Maybe my laughter made him
A little more self-assured
Where his confidence in himself
Had failed, my endured
Perhaps he needed only
To seem likeable again
Maybe he was just in need
Of a really good friend
It’s hard for me to take credit
For something that he did
Perhaps I just uncovered
A talent he had hid

It seems to me that lots of things change as you get older. My parents seem a bit more human and my friends seem a little sillier. School seems more important than finding ways to get out of it. Comfort is high above fashion on my clothing totem pole. Other people’s opinions seem less defining, but their feedback more inviting. Maybe all of the things are really the same … maybe I’m the one who is changing. Could it be???
Thanks to Bluemoo for providing another peek into the truth of me … the teeth thing really freaks me out because when I am highly stressed out I grind my teeth in my sleep. I am considered by most to be incredibly stubborn … this is wonderfully creepy!

The name Jennifer creates a dual nature in that you can be very generous and understanding, but you can also be so candid in your expression that you create misunderstanding. You struggle with the requirement to soften your expression with tact and diplomacy and to consider the feelings of others. Difficulty in accepting advice or admitting that you may have made a mistake causes you to appear to be stubborn and set in your ways. Thus, you have too often created the wrong impression, and friendships have suffered. This name does offer creative talent where there is the opportunity for ingenuity and originality. You have a tendency, at times, to have too many ideas on the go, and thus your efforts are scattered and many things do not reach completion. You are inclined to do to excess the things you like to do. You have very intense feelings and find it difficult to maintain stability and happiness. If you allowed it, temper and self-pity could be problems. Tension could cause nervous disorders, or centre in the head bringing weaknesses in the eyes, ears, sinuses, or teeth.
I have a song running through my head today … it’s a lovely little tune … originally written and sung by Joni Mitchell, I like the cover by Tori Amos best. It has a lilting melody and haunting lyrics … enjoy.
A Case of You
Written by Joni Mitchell
Just before our love got lost you said
“I am as constant as the northern star.”
and I said, “Constantly in the darkness
where’s that at?
If you want me I’ll be in the bar.”
On the back of a cartoon coaster
in the blue T.V. screen light
I drew a map of Canada
Oh Canada
with your face sketched on it twice
In my blood like holy wine
you taste so bitter and so sweet
well, I could drink a case of you, darling
and I would still be on my feet
I would still be on my feet
Oh I am a lonely painter
I live in a box of paints
I’m frightened by the devil
And I’m drawn to those ones that ain’t afraid
I remember that time you told me
“Love is touching souls”
Surely you touched mine
‘Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time
My blood
my holy wine
tastes so bitter and so sweet
Well I could drink a case of you, darling
and I would still be on my feet
I would still be on my feet
I met a woman
She had a mouth like yours
She knew your devils and your deeds
and she said, “Go to him, stay with him
but be prepared to bleed”
My blood
my holy wine
tastes so bitter and so sweet
Well I could drink a case of you, darling
and I would still be on my feet
I would still be on my feet
The personality test that Bluemoo prescribed the other day told me the following … interesting.

EXPERIMENTER
(Dominant Introvert Abstract Thinker )
Jenn | Like just 4% of the population you are an EXPERIMENTER (DIAT). Although you’re slightly shy (admit it!), you love control. When a problem comes in your way, you stomp on it swiftly and decisively. You are bothered easily by failure in others and failure in yourself. You don’t like people that you don’t think are intelligent. Rather than arguing with them, however, you would just as soon ignore them altogether. In relationships, you have a strong heart. And because you’re introverted, people take you as someone they can trust. But the fact is that in addition to solving problems, you like to create them. So there’s a decent chance that you’ll cheat on a loved one. If you do, you’ll likely get away with it. You’re a good person at heart, but then again, who isn’t? |
What is your favorite word???
I personally like celestial … what would you pick?
If you can’t narrow it down, name a few!
“She’s been everybody else’s girl maybe one day she’ll be her own.” – Tori Amos, “Girl” from the Little Earthquakes album
