Modigliani was influenced by Cubism, African sculpture and the works of Paul Cezanne.  Both a painter and a sculptor, he packed a lot of life into the 35 years he had, before dying of tuberculosis.

  1. I like the colors, and the way the eye is drawn across the eyes, down the chin, and between the breasts.  The strand of hair helps emphasize the curve of her figure, and adds realism — otherwise it’d be too cubist; too flat. 

    Notice how her face is sunburned but the rest of her is not?  The model lived her life covered up from the neck down.  Cool.

    Woo!  She’s NEKKID!!  Woo!

    Oh.  Ahem.

  2. … all that and he won the nobel prize for his work in economics in 1985. Wow! He was guite some fellow!

  3. … oh i see. no wonder he won the nobel prize. slip a couple of these paintings to the noble prize judges and you’re in like flint… dirty old nobel prize judges.
